OUR MISSION

Young Black & Everywhere is an Oakland based program that gives Black youth the opportunity to attend a fully-funded abroad trip. The staff of YBE are committed to outlining a safe fun trip that allows each of our participants to grow both their strengths and weaknesses. Prior to going abroad youth will participate in a preparation course that will include: assistance with obtaining passports, creative writing exercises, lessons centered on the history and culture of their abroad destination, team building, reading requirements, and community service.

Our Advisor

Felesia Porter is the advisor of Young Black & Everywhere and CEO of our partner organization the Youth Bar: Oakland’s Safe Haven. An Oakland native with an Associates Degree in Communications and Bachelor’s Degree in Media & Cultural Studies; she is known for her immense involvement with music and her various businesses. The Youth Bar is a non-profit organization she started due to the lack of options for youth who are at home without supervision for some part of the day, especially after school until a parent returns form work. A place where they can meet on their terms for their desired reasons, in an environment that is set up for them to succeed. Not only is the Youth Bar a safe haven, but it includes nutritious food and drinks at a reasonable price, supportive counselors and mentors, access to various workshops based around life skills and many more beneficial aspects.
